Aberlour (population 880) is a town in Morayshire, known as ‘the Jewel of Speyside’ and centred on Charleston of Aberlour. Located in Highland countryside yet benefiting from Moray’s dry climate, this town is both scenic and dynamic. It hosts industries such as the famous Walkers Shortbread manufacturers as well as over 50 whisky distilleries whilst the local malt whiskies have received international fame.
The success of these old industries has also helped to support a dynamic tourist trade whilst the Cairngorms are a popular destination for hill walkers and mountain climbers, whilst anglers frequent the River Spey.
Aberlour itself has a good road infrastructure and provides primary and secondary education. Older children are educated at Speyside High School, whilst Aberlour Primary School provides education for younger children.
