Aviemore (population, 2545) is the quintessential Highland town. Located close to the Cairngorms, it is in the East of the Badenoch and Strathspey region, benefiting from the Grampian rain-shadow. As one of the most picturesque towns in Scotland it also benefits from a robust tourist economy and an excellent transport infrastructure. The road is close to the A9 whilst Aviemore Railway Station offers high speed travel throughout Britain. Aviemore is reasonably close to Inverness Airport and for more leisurely travel, there are tracks for hiking and cycling. The neighbouring Cairngorms provide skiing opportunities on Aviemore’s doorstep, whilst the town itself provides opportunities for swimming and golfing.

As well as a range of leisure activities, the town itself possesses a primary school, whilst neighbouring Kingussie provides secondary education. The town also has a strong economy centred on retail and hospitality and including a wide variety of restaurants and shops.
