Falkirk sits at the centre of Scotland and is in the central lowlands of Scotland.
Today Falkirk has a busy town centre and offers a wide range of cultural facilities. Callendar House in Falkirk is a museum and visitor attraction, with permanent and changing exhibitions and historical research facilities. Falkirk Town Hall is a major venue for performing arts, entertainments and film. Many other events take place throughout the area, including Big in Falkirk, Scotland’s national street arts festival, held annually in May. And of course, there’s the Falkirk wheel, which links the Forth and Clyde Canal and the Union Canal and is recognised as an engineering wonder equal to anything the Victorians achieved.
Falkirk lies near the main M9 motorway between Edinburgh and Stirling, and is also served by the country's busiest railway line, from Edinburgh to Glasgow.
Falkirk has several primary schools and three High Schools and is home to one of the four campuses of Forth Valley College. The Falkirk Campus is by far the largest of the four campuses.
The Visit Falkirk website has lots more information about the area.
