Fraserburgh lies 42 miles from Aberdeen on the north facing coast of Buchan.
The town received its charter in 1546 and already had a harbour when Sir Alexander Fraser, who the town was named after, built the first stone pier in 1576.
Fraserburgh still has fishing boats in its harbour but not on the scale it used to have, although is is the largest shellfish port in Europe.
The town also retains the feel of a traditional old-fashioned seaside resort.
Fraserburgh is home to the Scottish Lighthouse Museum, it also has open air and indoor Swimming pools and the nearby Fraserburgh Heritage Centre.
The Visit Fraserburgh website has lots more information about the area.
