Larbert is a small town situated in the Falkirk council area. It lies above the River Carron in the Forth Valley and is 3 miles from the Firth of Forth and 2.5 northwest of Falkirk, the main town in the area. The village of Stenhousemuir lies directly east of Larbert, with both settlements being contiguous and sharing some public amenities.
Larbert railway station lies north of one of the major rail junctions in central Scotland giving easy access to both Glasgow and Edinburgh. The station is on the Edinburgh to Dunblane and Croy Lines. Trains are half-hourly take 35 minutes to reach Glasgow and 45 minutes to reach Edinburgh.
The nearest motorway is the M876, of which Junction 2 is the interchange for Larbert. This connects with the M80, the principal route into Glasgow and the M9, the main route into Edinburgh, passes east of Larbert.
There are currently three primary schools in Larbert itself and secondary pupils attend Larbert High School, which serves secondary level pupils from the surrounding area and outlying villages such as Airth and Skinflats. Despite its name, Larbert High School lies entirely in Stenhousemuir.
