Property in Stonehaven

Stonehaven is a coastal town, on the main road and rail routes, 15 miles south from Aberdeen. This has resulted in Stonehaven benefiting from the oil wealth over the last twenty five years. Its harbour is full of interest and is surrounded by mainly historical buildings. The Tolbooth, which now houses a museum, was once a grain store in the 1600's and The Ship Inn was built overlooking the harbour in 1771.

Stonehaven dates back to the Bronze Age, although the real development of the 'new town' of Stonehaven began in 1759. From the 1890's to the present day, Stonehaven has grown in size, from a fishing village to a thriving town with agriculture, manufacturing and tourism. The sea fishing involves only small craft now and the harbour is mainly recreational in use.
