Bonnyrigg is a small town in Midlothian, eight miles outside central Edinburgh. In the 2011 census, it was listed with a population of 15,677 people. This includes neighbouring Lasswade, Poltonhall and Hopefield.
At peak times, the Lothian Buses 31 service leaves Bonnyrigg Toll bound for central Edinburgh every ten minutes. Bonnyrigg is a mile from Eskbank train station, which was reopened in 2015 as part of the relaunched Borders Railway service. More locally, Bonnyrigg has an 18-hole golf course and a junior football team.
