Dunbar is a compact town in East Lothian. It stands 28 miles from both Edinburgh and the English Border at Berwick-upon-Tweed, with direct links to both via the A1. The town is also well served by Dunbar railway station.
Despite a history full of incident and strife, Dunbar has become a quiet dormitory town popular with workers in nearby Edinburgh. Due to its geographical location, Dunbar receives less rain and more hours of direct sunshine per year than anywhere else in Scotland, and is referred to by locals as 'Sunny Dunny'.
