Kirriemuir is a burgh in Angus. It's best known as the birthplace of playwright J M Barrie, whose most famous creation is acknowledged with a Peter Pan statue in the town square. It was also formerly home to AC/DC singer Bon Scott, while three former Kirriemuir residents have won the Victoria Cross.
Kirriemuir's position at the base of the glens makes it an attractive centre for hillwalking on the nearby Munros, with large parks in the Gairie Burn valley and at the top of Kirriemuir Hill. It has one secondary school and two primary schools for locals, while Kirriemuir Thistle junior football club is also based here.
