Galston is a town in the Loudoun area of East Ayrshire, which has a population of around 5,000. It is situated in wooded countryside four miles upriver from Kilmarnock, and is one of the small towns located in the Irvine Valley between Hurlford and Newmilns.
Galston's position beside the A71 makes it an ideal location for commuting to nearby Kilmarnock, the capital of East Ayrshire and a major regional employment centre. The A71 also extends across to Edinburgh in the opposite direction, via Strathaven and Livingston.
