With a population of 1,900, Muir-Of-Ord is situated where the Highlands meet Ross-Shire and the skyline is dominated by views of Ben Wyvis to the north. Muir of Ord has an excellent transportation network, including a railway station which provides high speed transport throughout Britain.
Muir-Of-Ord has many old sandstone houses built from local quarries, as well as a modern industrial estate, which is separated by a stretch of road from the main town. The town provides numerous leisure opportunities from golf to hill-walking and cycling, and the region is notable for its diverse wildlife and flora.
