The Scottish Borders village of West Linton stands less than twenty miles southwest of Edinburgh. Settlements in this area date back to the Iron Age, though West Linton is now a popular commuter village for city-based workers.
West Linton is situated on the A702 that adjoins the Edinburgh City Bypass. Its boundaries have recently been expanded by a number of new housing developments. A narrow and charming Main Street is home to a chemist, a bank, supermarket and post office, surrounded by traditional low-roofed cottages.
