The village of Lasswade sits on the River North Esk in Midlothian, nine miles south of central Edinburgh between Dalkeith and Loanhead. Lasswade lies within the Edinburgh Green Belt and most of the population are retired or commute into Edinburgh to work.
Lasswade contains several local businesses including horse riding stables, a golf driving range and 18-hole course, an alpine plant nursery and a pub. Melville Castle is northeast of Lasswade, which is positioned just over a mile from the A720 Edinburgh City bypass for excellent road links throughout the central belt.
