Rothesay is the principal town on the Isle of Bute, positioned along the Firth of Clyde within Argyll and Bute. It can be reached by ferry from Wemyss Bay, which offers direct rail links to Glasgow Central station.
The ruined Rothesay Castle stands at the heart of town. Dating back to the 13th century, it's the only castle in Scotland with a circular shape. There are three primary schools in Rothesay and one secondary school, Rothesay Academy.
