Bearsden is an affluent town in East Dunbartonshire. It lies on the northwestern fringe of Greater Glasgow, approximately six miles from the city centre. Bearsden is effectively a suburb, with Victorian housing developments coinciding with the introduction of a railway line in 1863. This is where the town gets its name from, since Bearsden station was named after a nearby cottage.

The town has two secondary schools which both have academic performance well above the national average. Bearsden's former council headquarters is now a flagship hotel, and the town is ideally situated for Mugdock Country Park to the north of neighbouring Milngavie.
