Kirkintilloch is a town and former burgh in East Dunbartonshire. It lies on the Forth and Clyde Canal about eight miles northeast of central Glasgow, and is accessible by car along a new link road from the M80 that connects Glasgow with Stirling via the M9.

Kirkintilloch is the administrative centre of the East Dunbartonshire Council area, and has a population of about 20,000. Its comprehensive retail facilities are also utilised by the residents of neighbouring Lenzie, whose own amenities include regular high-speed train services between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk.
