Johnstone is a Renfrewshire town situated three miles west of neighbouring Paisley and twelve miles west of central Glasgow. Johnstone lies at the western edge of the Greater Glasgow Urban Area, three miles southwest of Glasgow Airport and a 30-40 minute train journey from Prestwick Airport.

Johnstone is linked to Glasgow, Paisley and the Ayrshire coast by its railway station on Thorn Brae. The A737 dual carriageway connects Johnstone with the M8 to ensure rapid transport links across central Scotland. There are also several schools within the immediate area.
