Brechin is situated on the A90 between Aberdeen and Dundee, nine miles from the coastal town of Montrose. It dates back to Pictish times and at Brechin Castle Visitor Centre, there are several artefacts on show along with displays on the archaeology of Brechin.
Brechin Cathedral stands at the heart of the town, while another popular family attraction is the Caledonian Steam Railway that provides trips for tourists to Bridge of Dun, three miles towards Montrose. Brechin also hosts the Brechin Arts Festival in September each year, which attracts visitors and locals.
