Brydekirk is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, located approximately eight miles west of Gretna and south of Lockerbie. The village sits adjacent to the River Annan, a couple of miles from the M74 and A75 that links Gretna with Stranraer.
Five hundred years ago, the original village was known as Bridechapel, near what's now Brydekirk Mains Farm. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the name changed to Brydekyrk and Brydekirk respectively. A spring at St Brydes Well remains in use after 500 years.
