Cromarty is situated on the tip of the Black Isle peninsula in the Highlands. A well-preserved historic seaport, its coastal setting is reflected in beaches, a harbour and a sailing club. This former British naval base was also once home to Britain's smallest vehicle ferry.
Cromarty contains a primary school, while secondary education is at Fortrose Academy around ten miles away. Its Georgian merchant houses and Victorian cottages have ensured Cromarty remains an outstanding example of an 18th/19th-century burgh.
