The village of Eastriggs lies approximately five miles west of Gretna and four miles east of Annan in Dumfries and Galloway. The A75 runs past the village and connects Gretna to Dumfries and Stranraer, while Carlisle's many amenities are also close at hand.
The township of Eastriggs was created to support a new cordite factory during World War I. Spread over a nine-mile site, 30,000 men and women came from all over the Commonwealth to work here. As a mark of respect for the immigrant workforce, Eastriggs' streets were named after various Commonwealth cities.
