Gourock is a town within Inverclyde Council's boundaries, and a former burgh of the historic county of Renfrewshire. It rose to prominence as a seaside resort on the Firth of Clyde but is now better known as a popular residential area, extending west from Greenock past boutique stores and an outdoor swimming pool.
Gourock has a railway terminus and hosts ferry services across the Clyde. The main A78/A8 runs through town and along the coast between Port Glasgow, Irvine, and Prestwick. A train service also links the town to Glasgow and other key towns in Renfrewshire and Ayrshire.
