Gullane is a historic town on the southern shore of East Lothian's Firth of Forth. There has been a church in the village since the 9th century and the ruins of the 12th century Old Church of St. Andrew can still be seen at the western entrance to Gullane.
Gullane is gaining popularity as a commuter village for Edinburgh, roughly twenty miles away. Amenities include the village hall and a selection of shops including a bakery and sweet shop. Gullane is also the home of several high-quality golf courses including Muirfield, which has hosted The Open on numerous occasions.
