Houston is a small village in Renfrewshire, within the Gryffe Valley six miles northwest of Paisley and ten miles from central Glasgow. The A737 is two miles away, while Houston is three miles from the M8 that provides it with excellent access to Glasgow and other towns and cities in the central belt.
Houston dates back to the 18th century, and became a conservation area in 1968. Modern estates were created in the mid-to-late 20th century at Craigends and Brierie Hills. These additions have expanded Houston's population considerably, changing its character to a dormitory settlement for Glasgow and Paisley.
