Lanark is an historic market town in South Lanarkshire’s picturesque Clyde Valley. Its name is believed to come from the Cumbric word “Lanerc”, meaning "clear space” or “glade". Lanark contains several attractive parks, and neighbours the UNESCO World Heritage village of New Lanark.
Beyond a well-appointed main street, Lanark residents can commute to Glasgow or Edinburgh courtesy of a train station and regular bus services along the A70, A72 and A73. There are three main primary schools in Lanark, as well as a high school.
