Port Glasgow lies on the southern bank of the River Clyde, and is the second largest town in Inverclyde behind its near neighbour Greenock. The town is served by Port Glasgow train station in its centre, with Woodhall station to the east.
Port Glasgow is also connected to nearby Glasgow by the A8/M8 motorway, while Glasgow Airport is twelve miles east. This makes it a convenient commuting location for Glasgow or Greenock-based staff. New homes have been constructed along the riverside, and high up in the hills near Finlaystone House.
