As the capital of the Highlands, Inverness is located at the mouth of the River Ness. Its train station offers journeys as far north as Wick and as far south as London, while the A9 leads south and the A92 heads east to Moray. Inverness Airport offers flights to other locations in Britain, plus destinations abroad.
Inverness hosts the Highlands and Islands Enterprise headquarters, as well as a University of the Highlands and Islands campus. It has a robust retail sector and boasts numerous leisure facilities including a cinema, the Aquadome, Queen’s Park Stadium, the Ironworks music venue, The Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.
